9.00am: We meet outside the Dean Court Hotel in Duncombe Place, York, YO1 7EF (near York Minster) and head off into the Vale of York, learning about life in Yorkshire as you pass through the villages of Strensall, Sheriff Hutton and Hovingham.
10.00am: The first stop is in the traditional National Park village of Hutton-le-Hole, where you can wander amongst the traditional stone-built houses and sheep roaming on the village common land, or just have a leisurely Yorkshire Brew in one of the cafes – the choice is yours!
10.30am: We head off up over the North York Moors for some photo stops, passing the 16th century Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge (the highest point on the Moors) and Ralph’s Cross, then through the quaint and picturesque Yorkshire villages that lead down into Whitby. As you arrive in Whitby, you will hear stories about the seaside town’s history and your guide will tell you about the main places of interest that you may want to visit.
11.45am: The tour stops for two and a half hours free time in Whitby, with options to visit Whitby’s newest attraction, The Endeavour Experience (one of only two full size replicas of the HM Bark Endeavour in existence), the Captain Cook Museum, take the Bark Endeavour scale replica boat trip around the harbour, view Whitby Abbey (inspiration for the Dracula Books) or just explore the shops and market of the seaside town and experience Fish & Chips from the famous Magpie Café – the choice is yours! There are alternative drop-offs in Whitby – at the Harbour or at Whitby Abbey, if you prefer to start your visit there to see the Abbey but avoid having to climb the 199 steps to get there!
If you prefer to spend a little less time in Whitby and take the opportunity of travelling by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at our special discounted rate, you have the option of boarding the 2.00pm train from Whitby for the 45-minute moorland rail journey through Grosmont to Goathland (Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter movies), where you will re-join the Minicoach. This optional extra is paid locally in cash on the day with no need to book ahead.
2.15pm: We leave Whitby with the passengers not taking the train option for the equally scenic road journey to Goathland.
2.45pm: We reach Goathland Station in time to see the other passengers arrive by steam train, then learn about “Hogsmeade”, before exploring the picture postcard fictional village of “Aidensfield” in the Heartbeat television series and maybe grab an ice cream from the village store.
3.30pm: We leave Goathland and have a couple more photo stops as you learn the history behind the mysterious RAF Fylingdales Pyramid on Snod Hill and the Hole of Horcum before we head back towards York through the Howardian Hills with panoramic views of Castle Howard.
5.15pm: We arrive back at the meeting point in York at approximately 5:15pm and say our goodbyes.
Please don’t be late arriving at the Departure Point as we are unable to wait beyond 9.00am for latecomers!
There are only 16 places available on each tour date so book early to avoid disappointment!

Best Day Trip in Yorkshire!
Fabulous tour from start to finish. Pick up and drop off is right in front of the Cathedral, minibus is comfortable and provides great views. Mark was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who somehow memorizes everyone’s name with just one introduction. The scenery is superb. We loved Whitby and the fish and chips at the Quayside Restaurant were a lovely treat. It was so good that we stayed an extra day in York to take the James Herriot Dales tour the following day with the same company and guide.

Great Day Out
We had a lot of fun on this trip. We got to explore a large part of the Yorshire Moors countryside and we visited a good variety of places big and small, such as the hustle and bustle of Whitby and the quiet and laid back Hutton-le-Hole. This was a great experience and we definitely want to do another tour with BOBH again.

Awesome trip – Worth it!
This was a fantastic tour. Great group of people on a smaller bus, enough time to see all of the sights, and the tour leader was excellent. We learned so much about the various locations, were given clear instructions about where to go and where to meet during our open time in Whitby., and had a fabulous time. We highly commend the tour guide, who was knowledgeable, friendly, informative, and funny. Fantastic trip that we would highly recommend.

Perfect
Our guide was Mark. He was simply perfect! He was very attentive and had such a good sense of humour:) We’ve had 2 tours with him which are Moors, Whitby and Yorkshire Dales National Park. Both were very fun. Mark was very informative about the places and made the trip really fun. And the places we have seen on both tours were utterly spectacular! These tours are definitely a must do!!! - NurcanKutukcu
