9.00am: We meet outside the Dean Court Hotel in Duncombe Place, York, YO1 7EF (near York Minster) and head off for the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
10.30am: We arrive at Wensleydale’s most famous landmark, the 14th century Bolton Castle which once housed Mary Queen of Scots, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy and photograph the magnificent views over Wensleydale, learn a bit about the history of the area from your Guide, or just have a leisurely Yorkshire Brew in the medieval castle’s Tea Room – the choice is yours!
11.15am: We then take the scenic route towards Hawes, passing through Askrigg, the fictional village of Darrowby in the James Herriot All Creatures Great and Small TV series.
11.45am: We spend one and a half hours in Hawes, the highest Market Town in England, where you can maybe grab some lunch and sample the complimentary handcrafted cheeses at the world-famous Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, visit The Dales Countryside Museum, or just explore the quaint shops and cafes of the town itself – the choice is yours!
1.15pm: We leave Hawes and travel into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park for some photo stops as we pass through the picturesque Dales villages along the meandering route of the River Wharfe.
2.15pm: We arrive in the traditional Dales village of Kettlewell, made internationally famous in 2003 as the main filming location for the Calendar Girls movie. You can explore the village and learn more about the true story behind the movie, or just enjoy a beer or coffee with the locals in one of the pubs and cafes – whatever you prefer!
3.00pm: We continue our journey through the beautiful countryside of the National Park, passing Kilnsey Crag and the village of Grassington as we head through the rolling hills of Nidderdale, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
3.40pm: Finally, there will be a short stop in the charming little town of Pateley Bridge, category winner in the Great British High Street Competition in 2016, where you have the option to visit “The Oldest Sweet Shop in the World” (2014 Guinness Book of Records).
4.00pm: We leave Pateley Bridge and head back to York.
5.15pm: We arrive back at the meeting point in York at around 5:15pm and say our goodbyes.

This could mean that we adjust the itinerary to accommodate special requests from the group, or to make the best we can of the day if the weather is unfavourable.
November – March: Please note that, between around the end of October and Mid-March, we may have to adapt the itinerary and route due to weather conditions on the day. The Yorkshire Dales are still well worth visiting in winter, very different to summer but equally magnificent!
Brilliant day in the Yorkshire Dales National Park
The tour guide was very well prepared and told us a lot of exciting stories and facts about Yorkshire Dale. There were a fair amount of stops on the way, and thus all participants had a good chance to get out and take some photos, walk around the small towns, and even had time to do some cheese tasting.
The bus was clean, tidy and seats were comfortable, and everything worked well with the sound system (chauffeur used a microphone headset). Also he spoke very clearly and understandably English, which was a nice treat for foreigners like us.
All put together this made a brilliant trip for the day.

Wonderful day out in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Mark was friendly, helpful and an excellent guide who shared his knowledge of the area and made our first visit to this part of the UK very memorable. Yorkshire Dales Trip
Although a rainy start in York, Mark our driver with great knowledge of the area, the history and how life in the Yorkshire Dales unfolds through the year was friendly and could tell us of the best places to get the perfect photo, the choices of places to eat and drink and places to go. This is the fourth trip I have taken with BOB Holidays and cannot recommend them enough. You are comfortably transported in a 16 seater mini bus and given information along the way about the area you are visiting, with regular stops along the way. Despite the rain, it was a really lovely trip - Cath N

Two great days out
Had only two full days in York with friends and decided to book a trip with BOBH for each day. Absolutely no regrets. Not only were the places visited great, but the commentary and service provided by Mark were excellent. Also, as a former driving instructor and examiner I was very impressed by his driving. The first time I have ever travelled with a driver that was consistently so good that he would have passed with flying colours had he been on test! Unlike many other tours on which we have been, we were not dumped at places for extended periods to fill out the time - pace was just right. Would recommend to anyone visiting York - Pioneer1810444410
